These sales typically feature British and Commonwealth stamps, individual stamps, specialist collections, world accumulations, errors and varieties, as well as single-country and themed lots. Additionally, they include British and overseas postal history, ranging from pre-stamp postmarks and bisects to modern-era items.

Stamps with errors often attract significant premiums, with rare classic stamps from the 19th century always in high demand. Stamps with printing defects can command prices many times higher than those of standard issue, sometimes by factors of 100 or more.

Generally, First Day Covers have little to no value, as do commemorative or souvenir sets.
