The Summer has been an exciting time for us across the A&G group. We held the best Country House & Fine Interiors sale in recent memory, with bidders from across the globe battling it out to secure the great lots on offer. Highlights included: A Transitional Gu form beaker vase; A Verre Eglomise Glass picture by Jonas Zeuner, both from a selection of items from Carrycoats Hall in Northumberland; and a painting by Paul-Émile Bécat.
A&G Land & Property continues to go from strength to strength. We held another very successful property auction in July, managing to maintain our 100% auction selling success rate - well above the industry average of 63%. In addition to this, our property expert, Gareth Jones, secured sales on a number of noteworthy properties. Most distinctive was The Garden House at Wallington Hall. It was the first time this 18th Century grade II* listed property had been offered on the open market. With its interesting history and stunning location, dozens of eager viewers flocked to see it. Suffice it to say, several offers were received for more than the asking price very soon after.
As the weather cools into Autumn, our auction schedule heats up. We are currently finalising catalogues for two Picture Auctions, a three-day Comics Auction, and the eagerly awaited Modern Art & Design Auction. All of this in addition to the usual bi-weekly Homes & Interiors Auctions.
Our valuation team are hitting the road again in October, returning to various ‘Roadshow’ locations around Northumberland on Monday 2nd (Hexham), Wednesday 4th (Berwick) and Friday 6th (Alnwick). Moreover, we’re adding additional events in other locations, starting at Durham City Golf Club on Friday 27th October.
We fundraise for three charities every year at our Country House & Fine Interiors Auctions. Our chosen Summer auction charity was The Northumberland High Sheriff’s Fund at the Community Foundation, Tyne & Wear and Northumberland. Our clients where very generous, and a fantastic £765 was raised.
That’s all for now, thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you soon.
