The Property of James Sherwood Westmacott: a cased Continental pipe, the bowl of moulded pottery with white metal mounts, stained wood tapering stem, also with white metal mounts, the amber mouthpiece decorated with a gilt and enamelled collar, further cord and ivory fittings, the fitted brown leather case with gilt tooling and inscribed ''Á Son Ami James S. Westmacott, F. Schubert'', case 15in. (38cms) long. PROVENANCE Sold by instruction of a descent of the Artist. NB James Sherwood Westmacott (1823-1900), was the son of Henry Westmacott and trained in sculpture under his uncle Sir Richard Westmacott. He carved the figures of the Raredoss of St. Nicholas' Cathedral, Newcastle upon Tyne.
