A mid 19th Century scale model of a clipper, Australian black-wood hull and yellow pine decking, built by Richard Lough, Ballarat, Australia, measures 134 x 26 x 14cms (52 x 10 x 5 1/2in.), in a hard-wood case; together with family correspondence of Richard Lough, previously of Blyth, Northumberland, England, many letters written at right-angles, mariners registered ticket No. 138, 192, 28th January 1824; a receipt for passage from Melbourne to London, 12th February 1861, letters of recommendation for his apprentice skills in shipbuilding, signed by George Bowman and Thomas Drumond, Shipbuilders, Blyth; letter from Bank Managed Daniel Carmichael, Blyth, papers of family interest in the Blyth area and newspaper of the same.
