A Meissen model of Count Bruhl's tailor, late 19th Century, the lavished dressed figure astride a goat laden with the tools of his trade, blue crossed swords to underbelly, 17in. (43.5cms) high, some restoration. NB By tradition this figure represents the tailor of Count Heinrich Bruhl, the administrator of the Meissen factory from 1733-1763. Delighted with a new suit, Count Bruhl offered his tailor 'anything he asked for'. The ambitious tailor asked to be invited to a state banquet. Shocked at such a request from a 'commoner', Bruhl kept his word by having this satirical model made to sit on the table.
