William James Miller, Lombard Street, London: a handsome George III mahogany longcase clock, the brass dial with silvered roman chapter rim, matted centre, with subsidiary second dial, scroll and foliate spandrels, strike/silent lever under name plaque to arch, with dolphin and scroll surround, the eight-day movement with anchor escapement, the case with caddy style top and three brass finials above a cavetto cornice and glazed arched door flanked by fluted columns, shaped and moulded waist door, on panel base with bracket feet, 96in. high. NB The clock with label to reverse of waist door label dated May 1954 ''Given to Daphne Conyngham Greene nee Leather by her cousin (1st once removed), Amie Marion Walters, Gt Granddaughter of Rector William Steven Du Sautoy and Eleanor his wife (Spanish Granny), of Exton, Hants, to whom it belonged.
