Cesare Lapini (Italian 1848- after 1893): a carved carrera marble figure of a woman, flowers in her hair with a bun and ponytail above a ruff collar, wearing a crucifix around her neck, patterned tunic, the dress with carved folds and star decorated hem, purse hanging to one side, on circular base, inscribed ''C. Lapini Firenze 1881'', 27in. (68cms) high. NB A very similar sculpture sold at Sotherbys, New York, 23rd April, 2010, titled to base ''Margherita'' and dated 1884. See illustration
