Consignment Process

Free valuation for sale

Before entering any item in one of our sales, we offer a free valuation service. Goods can be brought into our salerooms by appointment. If you have large objects or house contents, then we would be very pleased to arrange a home visit.

Reserve Price

Where appropriate, we will recommend a reserve price which is agreed prior to any sale. In most circumstances we use our discretion, using the lower estimate printed in the catalogue as a guide.

Before the Auction

Town & County Sales

Before a Town & County sale we normally only send pre-sale advice notifications by e-mail due to time restrictions, but by special request we can arrange to post these.

Fine Art Sales

Before a Fine Art Sale we will send pre-sale advice notifications either by e-mail or by post, which gives the lot number, description and pre-sale estimate.

After the Auction

Payment will be made when statements are issued and we can arrage to do this by bank transfer or by cheque.

Fine Art Sales

We will send post sale notifications either by e-mail or by post 7 days after the sale, and approximately 3 weeks after each sale we will send out detailed statements of account to all vendors of that particular sale by post or e-mail. Scale of Commission

Commission will be charged per lot at the following rates:-

  • Fine Art Sales 17.5% on the first £1,500, 14% thereafter.
  • Town & County and Specialist Collectors’ Sales 19%.
  • Loss and Damage Warranty is charged at 1.5% of the hammer price.
